Position Summary
Working in close partnership with the Executive Director, the Human Resources Manager’s skills, expertise, and actions support the agency in remaining responsive to the ever-changing needs of youth and families in the West Kootenay Boundary.
The Human Resources Manager:

The Human Resources Manager is anticipated to allocate their time to the tasks below, however, they have the flexibility to manage their schedule and task list according to the needs of the of the agency. They are invited to communicate to the Executive Director any changes to the following task list according to their actual experience of the position.
Employee Recruitment
Developing and implementing a recruitment strategy for the agency
Posting employment opportunities on various platforms
Attending community events (e.g., job fairs)
Reviewing and sorting incoming applications
Scheduling interviews
Conducting interviews in collaboration with supervisors
Performing reference & documentation checks
Employee Management
New employee set-up (e.g., technology, office, booking various levels of orientation)
New employee orientations (e.g., agency, processes, policies, building, technology)
Gathering, submitting, and filing human resources documentation (e.g., criminal record checks, first aid certification, MCFD record checks)
Scheduling probation reviews
Conducting probation review meetings in collaboration with supervisors
Scheduling annual performance management reviews
Conducting annual performance management review meetings in collaboration with supervisors
Writing support letters and proof of employment letters as requested by employees
Becoming a member of the agency’s Joint Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JOSH)
Working with the agency’s Executive and Leadership Teams to model and maintain a healthy workplace culture
Noting important agency events and spearhead celebrations (e.g., employee departures/retirements, milestone birthdays, employees becoming parents)
Benefits and RRSP Administration
Supporting employees with completing extended health benefits paperwork
Supporting employees with completing RRSP paperwork
Communicating with 3rd party extended benefits and RRSP providers (e.g., Manulife, FABP)
Acting as primary administrator of extended health and RRSP benefits
Training and orienting employees to the agency’s extended benefits, RRSP, and Employee Assistance Program offerings
Policy Support
Supporting employees in understanding Section 3_Human Resources of the agency’s Policy and Procedures Manual.
Reviewing human resources policies and making recommendations for updates/changes
Drafting human resources policies for Executive Director review
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Education
Certificate or Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Social Science, Health, Humanities, or Business Administration; or other relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted.
Experience
Three years of experience providing direct human resources support
Experience in understanding and implementing Canada’s Labour Laws
Experience working within the social services
Experience working within a non-profit
Experience working for an agency that relies heavily on technology
Experience working alongside and valuing worldviews that are not their own
