Job Title: Human Resources Administrative Assistant Reports to: Executive Director Start Date:February 5, 2024 Position Duration: Temporary 7-week contract providing leave coverage. Following the 7 weeks, reduced hours may be available for a limited time for the purpose of supporting the permanent employee’s gradual return to work. Hours/week: 24 hours/week (Mon-Thurs; 6 hours per day) Hourly wage:$22 - $24/hour Office Location: 2216 Columbia Ave., Castlegar, BC Communities Served: Regional (Trail, Nelson, Castlegar, Salmo, Grand Forks, Nakusp, Kaslo, & surrounding areas)

Position Summary
In consultation with the Executive Director, the HR Administrative Assistant’s skills, expertise, and actions support the agency in remaining responsive to the ever-changing needs of youth and families in the West Kootenay Boundary.
This individual:

is proficient in using and troubleshooting diverse technologies including a) PC operating systems; b) Office 365 and related applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive); c) printers, scanners, and copiers; and d) web-based applications.

The HR Administrative Assistant may be delegated any of the following tasks according to the needs of the agency:
Employee Recruitment
Posting employment opportunities on various platforms
Reviewing and sorting incoming applications
Scheduling interviews
Attending interviews and taking notes
Updating personnel files
Gathering, submitting, and filing human resources paperwork
Performing reference & documentation checks
Other duties as requested by the Executive Director
Benefits and RRSP Administration
Supporting employees with completing extended health benefits paperwork
Supporting employees with completing RRSP paperwork
Communicating with 3rd party extended benefits and RRSP providers (e.g., Manulife, FABP)
Acting as primary administrator of extended health and RRSP benefits
Employee Assistance
Gathering, submitting, and filing human resources documentation (e.g., criminal record checks, first aid certification, MCFD record checks)
Writing support letters and proof of employment letters as requested by employees
Other duties as requested by the Executive Director
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Education
Certificate or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration; or other relevant discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is preferred. Equivalent experience will be accepted.
Experience
One year of experience providing administrative support
Experience working within the Social Services
Experience working within a non-profit
Experience working for an agency that relies heavily on technology
Experience working alongside worldviews that are not their own
